** The historic fiscal framework that invests in working families and tackling climate change follows the Senate’s passage of the bipartisan infrastructure package, which Shaheen helped negotiate **
(Washington, DC) – US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement in response to the Senate’s passage of a budget framework that sets the stage for historic investments in the healthcare economy United States. Today’s vote is a step toward legislation that would help American families by creating jobs, lowering taxes for working families, investing in child care, expanding affordable housing and more, as well as by devoting substantial resources to respond to the growing climate crisis.
“In the wake of the bipartisan infrastructure package that I helped negotiate, I am proud that the Senate has taken an important step forward in making historic investments that would strengthen our economy and raise the working families of Granite. State. This legislation would be a victory for Americans across the country, with bold policies to strengthen our health care, housing, economic opportunities and child care for working families. From cutting taxes for tens of millions of families and creating hundreds of thousands of well-paying jobs to expanding health insurance to cover dental, vision and hearing, this framework would help Americans become whole again as we fight the pandemic. The legislation also recognizes the existential threat posed by climate change and would invest more in tackling this crisis than any other legislation ever passed by the Senate. These significant investments are all made without raising taxes for the middle class. Today, the Senate took bold steps to bring opportunity and security within reach of millions more Americans – now is the time to get down to business on completing the details of this historic framework.
The historic $ 3.5 trillion budget plan that invests in the care economy and the fight against climate change follows the Senate’s passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a historic bipartisan infrastructure plan that Shaheen helped bring through key negotiations.
